Lara (Animal Control Officer and CPDT-KA in Progress) is the Owner and Founder of Uptown Dogs. She started this venture with the idea that everyday could be "Bring your dog to work day." Lara got her start with professional animal care by working at the Liberty Humane Society as a kennel attendant. She quickly worked her way around the organization as an adoption counselor, transporter, medical staff, office administration, euthanasia technician, and eventually became a New Jersey Certified Animal Control Officer where she served Jersey City, Hoboken, Union City, and currently as an emergency responder for Hudson County CART. Lara is mom to Doyle, Muse, Pink, and Granderson. She lost her Sharky in March 2017 and adopted Doyle from Associated Humane Societies in Newark in June 2017. Sharky was an AKC Canine Good Citizen and alumni of Liberty Humane Society in Jersey City.
Lara is currently studying and actively working to complete the requirements and testing for the Certified Professional Dog Trainer - KA through the CCPDT (Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers.) She is studying science based and positive reinforcement behavior modification under her mentor Mary Alverson CPDT-KA/CBCC-KA) of Pawsitive Energy LLC. Lara graduated from General Assembly's Product Management course in 2015 after completing Bachelors studies at New Jersey City University in History and Music Business.
